Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
The primary source of our Mixed Blacks field blend comes from a vineyard in Calistoga planted at the turn of the 20th Century, and is our homage to California’s winegrowing heritage. When immigrants first settled here, they brought with them vine cuttings from their villages and planted what would later become known as “field blends.” These vineyards with humble origins produced wines which were to be shared among family and traded with neighbors as a part of a life well-lived.

Winemaker Notes
Our Mixed Blacks stands out as a true jewel in the Girard portfolio. It’s a spectacular blend that delivers concentrated fruit, earthy complexity, and a structure that is both bold and seamless. This is the bottle that regularly wins over first time visitors and is always sought after by our members.
Food Pairing Notes
Pair with smoked beef brisket. Its powerful body and high alcohol expertly cut through the meat’s fat, while the bright, jammy fruit notes offer a welcome contrast to the brisket’s smoky char and the tang of its sauce or rub.
