Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Our Montipulciano comes from Clements Hills in Lodi and is defined by its rolling hills with elevations ranging from 150 to 400 feet. The region’s red clay loam soils are of volcanic origin, similar to those found in California’s North Coast. Compared to AVAs to the west, Clements Hills experiences a warmer and wetter climate with wider temperature variations between day and night.
Winemaker Notes
We craft Montepulciano to balance vibrant fruit with savory depth, using gentle techniques to preserve fresh cherry and cranberry notes. A brief maceration and light oak aging enhance texture without overpowering the fruit’s character. Careful monitoring ensures the wine’s signature earthy undertones combine with its bright acidity and approachable tannins. The result is a versatile, food-friendly wine that reflects charm of the varietal.
Food Pairing Notes
Pair with penne arrabbiata. The wine’s acidity cuts through the richness of the sauce, and its red fruit flavors complement the tomatoes.
