Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Year after year, our Syrah vineyard blocks are farmed according to the direction of our winemaker, making them estate grown fruit. One block is on the hillside behind the winery and the other is about a mile north of Kunde on the valley floor. Those two locations give very different flavor profile and, when blended, make a complex wine.
Winemaker Notes
The Syrah vineyard blocks were picked early morning, destemmed to tank, and inoculated the next day. The fermentation was kept around 85F and was fermented on the skins for 20 days. The finished wine was drained and pressed and aged in barrel for 19 months.
Food Pairing Notes
Pair with stuffed portabella mushrooms with rice, herbs, and a touch of cheese, or serving them alongside a rich mushroom ragout. The Syrah’s peppery spice and dark fruit notes will enhance the umami flavors of the mushrooms and the earthy texture of the mushrooms mirror the wine’s savory qualities.
