Dessert Cuvee, Amador County

Dessert Cuvee, Amador County

Deep amber in color with lifted aromas of dried fig, toasted walnut, caramel, and citrus peel. The palate is rich with flavors of raisin, toffee, baking spice, and subtle nuttiness. The finish is long, warming, and exceptionally smooth with pronounced depth from extended solera aging.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
Sourced from a historic Mission grape vineyard in Amador County originally planted in 1856. These mature, low-yielding vines produce small quantities of intensely flavored, distinctive fruit, preserving one of California’s earliest wine traditions.

Winemaker Notes
Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness for dessert wine production. After eight days of skin contact, fermentation is initiated using native yeast to preserve site-driven character. The wine is then fortified with brandy to arrest fermentation, retaining natural sweetness and elevating alcohol.
Food Pairing Notes
Serve slightly chilled or at cellar temperature as a stand-alone digestif or with simple accompaniments such as dried fruit and nuts. Try served over ice cream for a new dinner party delight.
Production
This wine is crafted using a traditional multi-vintage solera aging system, in which younger wines are gradually blended with older vintages over time to ensure consistency, depth, and complexity. The blend spent an average of 10 years aging in neutral oak barrels, allowing for slow oxidative development without oak influence. Bottled in May 2017, the wine reflects decades of layered maturity and balance.
