Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
The fruit for Mixed Blacks comes from Godward Vineyard in Calistoga, home to century-old, head-pruned vines. Originally planted at the turn of the 20th century, the vineyard features interplanted varietals that reflect California's earliest winegrowing traditions. These field blend vineyards are a living legacy of the immigrant farmers who brought cuttings from their homelands and helped shape Napa Valley’s winemaking heritage.

Winemaker Notes
Uneven ripening can be a concern with older field blends, so we carefully monitor vine maturity throughout harvest to find the perfect balance of fruit ripeness and natural acidity. In the cellar, warmer fermentation temperatures (above 85°F) help extract the most character. Once fermentation is complete, the wine is transferred to barrel and aged in a mix of French, American and Hungarian oak.
Food Pairing Notes
This wine pairs well with a variety of game dishes prepared with a berry compote sauce. The powerful body and bright fruit notes are excellent companions to the robust, earthy and savory flavor profile of game meat.
