1904 Dessert Cuveé, Sonoma Valley

1904 Dessert Cuveé, Sonoma Valley

We created the 1904 Dessert Cuveé to commemorate the original purchase date of the Kunde estate in 1904, then known as Wildwood Vineyards, by family patriarch Louis Kunde. This delightful port-styled wine shows off aromas of caramel, ripe raspberry fruit, sage and Christmas spice that meld into a velvety confection of ripe cherry and raspberry flavors with vanilla cream undertones.

Winemaker’s Comments: “We have crafted this cuveé as a non-vintage wine so that we have the freedom to combine a little bit of the present vintage with some of our wines from the past. The resulting blend is meant to be slightly less sweet than many other ports. This velvety textured, full-flavored wine will pair wonderfully with fresh fruit crisp or a multitude of chocolate delights, or can be enjoyed as an aperitif simply on its own.”

Pair with: Chocolate Spice Stout Cake

Production Notes
To make our 1904 Dessert Cuvée, we added pure grape spirits at just the right moment during the peak of fermentation. This halts the process and preserves the remaining natural grape sugars. This allows us to find the perfect balance between sweetness, flavor and acidity.
Winemaker Notes
"We created the 1904 Dessert Cuvée to honor the heritage of our establishment date. We felt a wine this special deserved to be graced with the image of the first winery on this land, the famous Dunfillan Ruins." - Zachary Long
