2019 Meritage 202, Destination Series, Sonoma Valley
90 Points, Wine Spectator
Double Gold, 2024 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition
The 2019 Meritage 202 is a full-bodied red blend that pays homage to the winery’s original bonded number ‘202’ given to patriarch Louis Kunde in the 1900s. The blending of five Bordeaux varieties forms a distinct nose of plum, currants and anise. Its heady bouquet is enhanced by opulent, full-mouth flavors of black cherry and dried cranberries.
Winemaker’s Comments: “We chose to really focus on the luscious fruit from a plentiful but ripe harvest. Soft and silky tannins are pushed forward as a showcase to support the dominant flesh of the mixed berries of the vintage. Based on the highly integrated tannins and bright acid structure, this one screams holiday meal — turkey doused with gravy or pot roast!”
