2022 Altura Collection Barbera, North Coast
98% Barbera, 2% Petite Sirah
Aromas of red fruits, dark cherry, and purple flowers greet the nose. On the palate, a mouth-watering tartness leads to flavors of raspberry, rhubarb, and blackberry pie, rounded by a hint of oak and soft tannins, culminating in a subtle finish of milk chocolate.
LABEL ART: Barbera is known to have a beautiful, deep purple color, yet has a surprising lightness on the palate. With its dark, rich colors and lighter splashes woven through, this piece by Maria Giannini was inspired by that contrast.

Wine Profile
Vineyard Notes
This vintage of Barbera is predominantly sourced from the sun-drenched Las Lomas Vineyard in Lake County’s Kelseyville Bench. A touch of Petite Sirah from Sonoma Valley’s Serres Vineyard adds depth and structure, while a small inclusion of Barbera from Shenandoah Valley’s Hannah Vineyard weaves in further layers of complexity. The result is a beautifully nuanced expression of North Coast Barbera.

Winemaker Notes
We harvested our Barbera late in the season, allowing the grapes extended hang time to achieve a beautiful acid balance. Each vineyard was separately fermented for two weeks with Clos yeast, specifically chosen to enhance berry fruit aromas and create a rich, rounded profile. After fermentation, the wine spent 18 months in oak. This careful aging integrates subtle spice and structure, yielding a Barbera that’s both fresh and deeply complex.
Food Pairing Notes
Pair with BBQ Pork Ribs. The wine’s bright acidity effortlessly cuts through the richness of the ribs, while its vibrant berry fruit perfectly complements the smoky, tangy-sweet flavors of the meat.
